0 'Parliament is supreme institution'

KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon Saturday described Parliament as the supreme institution with a sole right to daft, amend as well as interpret the Constitution and PPP would not allow any authority to let its constitutional right snatched.

"Don't create a situation which ends up benefiting the third force," he said at a news conference here.

He said PPP would sacrifice its Prime Ministers to protect the Constitution. We always respected judiciary and don't want confrontation between institutions.

He claimed National Reconciliation Ordinance NRO paved way for doffing uniform of former General Pervez Musharraf, return of PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif to the country after years-long exile from Saudi Arabia and restoration of judges.

Memon said President Asif Ali Zardari enjoyed immunity under the Constitution and contended had cases against him (Zardari) were true, these would have been proved during era of Nawaz Sharif 12 years back.

He said every institution should work within its Constitutional ambit. The Minister said that people voted in PPP's support in recent Multan National Assembly by-election after former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gillani was disqualified by apex court. PPP won Sanghar Sindh Assembly by-election. "People showed their trust in PPP," he added. (Geo/PPI)
